about

Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra in B minor opus 104 - Antonin Dvorak
Concerto for Violoncello and Orchestra in A minor opus 129 - Robert Schumann
Cantilena for Violoncello and Piano - August de Boeck

Issued to honor the memory of one of Belgium's best cellists and pedagogues Years of cello solo by the Radio Symphony Orchestra and Professor at the Royal Conservatories of Antwerp and Bergen.
From the numerous radio recordings we selected the famous cello concertos by Schumann and Dvorak, on the one hand because they perfectly demonstrate the art of Baeyens, and on the other because of the good sound balance. Both concerti were recorded just before his retirement at the famous Studio 4 in Flageyplein. But Baeyens was also a fierce defender of homegrown music. Partly for this reason August de Boeck's Cantilene was also put on CD. At the release of this CD in 1993 there was no note from De Boeck on CD. Nor was there a recording of the pianist Robert Wasmuth, who was one of the most coveted accompanists of so many instrumentalists in countless radio recordings. This edition is stereophonic and sounds beautifully recorded in the famous Studio 4 of Flageyplein in Brussels.
